Storyland
The official web site is
http://storyland.ca
Storyland was founded in 1966 and was slowly built up over many years, in 1983 A mini-golf course was added and the paddle boats were introduced. In 2007, the current owner announced his retirement and the hunt for a new owner began. Luckily a new owner who saw the potential and the long history of Storyland decided to purchase the park. New attractions are being planned as a new era begins for this historic part of the Ottawa Valley! Storyland is located in the historical and beautiful Ottawa Valley, 40 km northwest of the rural border of Canada's Capital City, Ottawa, and 8 km north of the town of Renfrew, Ontario.

We arrived for our visit in 2007 before the new owner had rescued the park so some of the attractions were looking a little tired, I can only assume the new owners will have remedied the situation and from the current contents of the website it appears they have added some new attractions.
Off Road Rally: Take a miniature Jeep for a spin around the track!
Gone Fishin': Let the kids hop in a fishing boat and go for a whirl!
Fairytale Trail: Home to many of Storyland's fairytale and storybook displays.
Action Run: ¼km long trail featuring a variety of activities and play structures to run, slide and crawl.
Mini Golf: Our 18 hole mini-golf course is always a family favourite.
Splish-Splash Water Spray Park: Cool off on a hot day in our splash park.
Paddle Boats: Enjoy time on Crooked Pond and watch for beavers, turtles and more!
Jump & Bounce: The most popular attraction at Storyland according to our guests!
Wet & Dry Slides: A stay in the water park wouldn't be complete without a trip down the slides!
Playgrounds: Storyland has a wide range of playgrounds available throughout the park.
Champlain Lookout: The 35 km lookout at the highest point along the historical Ottawa River
Directions:
From Downtown Ottawa: Storyland is approximately a 1 hour drive. Follow Highway 417 west to Arnprior. Continue west on Highway 17 for 35 km to Storyland Road (Renfrew County Road 4) and turn right. Watch for the bend in the road and Storyland will be on the left.
The Park caters to the younger children in the family but it does have a few things to keep the older children happy and busy so the entire family can enjoy the day. We shall see what the coming years bring to park but for now Storyland has escaped an early death and we hope it manages to stay around for many more years to come!
